Why do so many obvious recipes fail? I tried to cook chicken with OMGWTFBBQ sauce and got nothing. Those were expensive items, you know, you're really breaking my balls here.

Hey, Chicken's not that expensive...

At least now the chance of critical failure on cooking/combining is lower, plus you get a chance at a random new item instead of always getting a Lump of Carbon or a Soggy Mess.

But, back to your original question, the reason so many obvious recipes fail is that they weren't obvious to me (and thus I haven't added them (yet)).

Does that mean we can spam you with recipe ideas? And you'll add them if they sound logical?

Like OMGWTFBBQ sauce + chicken = saucy chicken (or 1337 chicken) ?

If so pack rat trainee is going to get a headache from memorizing all of them.

BTW are random items I might get when unsuccessfully combining stuff truly random or is there a limited set of items I can get. (simplified: can I get a monocle by combining two cheap items?)

Yes, yes, yes and the quality of the random item depends on the quality of the combined items (so no, you can't get a Monocle from 2 cheap items).

Alright, here's a recipe idea:

Two slices of plain toast, and chicken: Chicken Sandwich.

Spam and two slices of toast: Spamwich

P.S.: we don't need any recipes with tofu because nobody eats tofu anyway ^_^
