Short and simple:

Beer in tavern for +1 bravery (and maybe +10% att -12% def).

I think this game is a littttle more cerebral than that, m'kay?

Actually I like this idea, but think there should be two items there, beer and whiskey. They both raise your bravery 1 point for an hour, but whiskey is cheaper. Also, if you drink whiskey before beer, then you're in the clear, but, if you drink beer and then whiskey, you become ill briskly (you have a chance to pass out sick, like being dead but only lose 1% of your experience)

whadayamean Whisky is 'Cheap' - I'll have you know it's one of the finest spirits in the world... unless you call that nasty Bourbon you yanks have as Whisky.
