Magic items

How about magic items like wands or magic shields. Magic weapons could give you more magical damage, shields would give you higher defense but would use up a certain amount of MP every turn in battle.

There could also be a way to manufacture magical weapons by turning ordinary weapons into magical weapons by adding magical damage. Only mages could do this, but it would use up some stamina. Fighters could use them but not make them (or make only weak ones). Amount of magical damage that a mage can add could grow as the mage gains higher levels (or there could be a seperate skill level for this). Imagine an fire rat flail and an ice needle.

There's some semi-related discussion over here: http://wittyrpg.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=397

Basically, I think it's a good idea, but I'd like to implement it in a way that the effects are (temporarily) applied to items rather than creating new items, as creating new distinct items introduces a lot of complications (think of the Market for one).

How about buying magically crafted items at the magic shop. This should be powerful weapons or armor but they would disappear after N fights. (Maybe you could renew this for a lower cost than buying a new item. Rent-a-magic-item sort of thing).

Oh... and accessories that fill your magic points when in battle. This would be useful so you can use stronger spells/skill and you would pay less at the healer. Also this would be a life saver if there would ever be magical equipment that uses your MP when worn.
