Pet Question

So, have I missed something ?

I'm level 20, and am yet to have the faintest idea how to acquire a pet. I've got an Unusually usual doghouse thing in my campground, adventured back through all the prior areas from the Mysterious Crater, and haven't found any reference. Have I missed something ? Do I have to sombine things to get a pet ?

You need to [ use ] the right item(s) to get pets.
