So - I've got a pet following me that originated as a statue. She makes the dead monsters a little dustier, and all seems to work pretty well. Here's my question, though, and it's probably a coding question.
Let's say I whoop a creature that drops a specific scroll, and only that creature drops a specific scroll. If the pet's ability kicks in, and works, is it possible that I'll get something other than that scroll, whereas, without the pet, I would have gotten the scroll?
I ask because my fighter (sans pet) seems to have better luck with the scroll-gathering than my mage.
Thanks!

Good question. However, your hunch deceives you... Special monster drops are evaluated before regular drops, so the regular drop chances have no impact on the special drop chances (and the pet in question has no direct or indirect impact on the special drop chances).
Or, in English: Go ahead and take the pet with you, it won't lower your chances of finding scrolls.
Happy hunting!
