Not that I'm worried about the afterlife, but how does ones' character end up in the graveyard? I have died enough times to count, and I never saw my character's name in there. Do you have to die extra special like?
Just wondering...

Yes, extra special deaths only. In particular, only deaths with hardcore characters (that becomes an option for new characters after you have at least one level 10 or higher character).

Yup, first you have to have at least ONE regular character lvl 10 or more, then you can choose to create an hardcore character, by ticking the hardcore box in the character creation dialog! :D

EDIT: Probably you want to know if you can become hardcore after character creation point, then no. You have to be hardcore from start :D

So its for second characters, not your first... SIGH.
This should be a feature but it would have some kind of cost the higher your character is when/if you decide to switch.

I think that'd defeat the point of playing hardcore.

What does hardcore do?

When you die, that's it, no reviving.

and that's the answer I was looking for.
Now that I have invested 'so much time' into my character, I wouldn't want to convert.
Thanks for the explanation.
someties you just gotta ask the right question! :D

I have a love/hate relationship with 'hardcore' characters in games.

On one hand, it SUCKS to lose a character permanently when you've invested a lot of time into him/her.

On the otherhand, upping the ante (as it were) can really enhance the gaming experience. It gives you a whole new level of immersion as, well, one false step can nullify hours, days, or more of time invested in the character.

It's the one thing in an RPG that can actually give you an adrenaline rush- you aren't going to get your natural high when your characters near death when its just a matter of losing some experience.

If you're an adrenaline junkie, hardcores definitely the way to go once you're acclimated to the game in question.

My current characters are not hardcore, but my next one probably will be.
