Game! - Where the stick is mightier than the sword!

I've just gotten my fairy and it's following me quite nicely, currently sitting at level 11. The unfortunate thing is it doesn't seem to do anything. It sprinkles fairy dust on stuff but there's nothing else happening (no extra loot, Gold or whathaveyou like the leprechaun)

Is this a bug or am I missing something?
