Game! - Where the stick is mightier than the sword!

yea i'm at level 28, still no sticks here either. i was starting to wonder if i was on the wrong track for this quest, but this thread has reassured me. i'm just unlucky, yay! *sigh* EDIT: to showcase my everlasting desire for a stick i have put up not one, not two, but FIVE dirty needles for trade!...

ok, so i just collected all of a certain type of item, which i then traded in and for which i got a cookbook. seeing said cookbook in my inventory with a shiny use button, i hit said button.... and learned precisely one recipe. and then the cookbook seems to have disappeared. is this what is suppose...

since you seem to know a bit about it, could you tell me what else the useless trinket is good for? i traded it to the packrat guy because that's the only place i remember seeing it, and he gave me an aluminum pole... and of course i have no idea what i'm supposed to do with that. and as far as comb...
