Ideas should never even consider the mechanics of what's happening under the hood. If the data system is such that the idea is unworkable, then the idea can be modified to fit the data. Other than that, it doesn't matter if it is SQL, object records, fixed-length data records, or an automated grain...

Another thought I had, that is definitely not my original idea. I played on a MUD once that had four different PVP settings: Off, PVP-Green, PVP-Yellow, and PVP-Red. With PVP Off, nobody could attack you, period. With PVP Green on, you could be attacked by anyone within a very narrow band of your le...

Comparing where I am with my level 35 fighter to where my mage was at 35... My Attack is way higher (obviously), my health is notably higher, my mp is dismal, and my defense is lower (probably due to dual-wielding vs. using a shield, and the defense reduction from fighter spells). Actual damage bein...

With my fighter, level 35... I have enough mana to use my strongest special twice, with enough mana to use my second strongest afterwards. I can use my strongest special once. and then regular attacks against a foe, and kill him in 3 hits, 2 if either attack crits, assuming no misses. If I use my st...

I went with the whole shpiel of making rage a general figure rather than target specific with a standpoint of 'makes sense' and 'simple to code' as opposed to a game balance/practicality standpoint, which is likely the falling here. I mean, as far as makes sense goes, A) If you're not at your campgr...

1. If campground improvements are your defense (as they seem to be), then not being as strong as the other guy means that you will gain less and lose more in PvP -- so you want to be at full or not playing. 2. If pets are your primary defense, and campground improvements only minor adds, but still ...

Actually, I think Fighter's abilities lend themselves well to a whole different layer of strategy. Do you go for as much strength and damage per attack as possible? This gives you some seriously strong special attacks that you can use a few times, and a reliable normal attack. Or do you sacrifice so...

I have a love/hate relationship with 'hardcore' characters in games. On one hand, it SUCKS to lose a character permanently when you've invested a lot of time into him/her. On the otherhand, upping the ante (as it were) can really enhance the gaming experience. It gives you a whole new level of immer...
